Webmail 2.0

The latest version of Shaw’s web-based email client is Shaw Webmail 2.0, located at wm.shaw.ca. This version of Webmail incorporates an enhanced interface, upgrades to many existing features and added features that were not previously available in Webmail Classic.

Features of Webmail 2.0

Webmail 2.0 gives you the ability to create and manage a contacts list and calendar, use the auto-complete address, remote access and import/export contact list features and create tags and custom email filters.

Contacts: You can save the sender’s information to your Contacts (previously named Address Book) for later use by right-clicking on the sender of a received email.

Calendar: You can manage you schedules and appointments using the web-based calendar.

Tags: You can tag your messages, contacts and appointments now! Tagging allows for a simple method of categorizing and identifying messages, contacts and appointments which also makes them easier to find when using a search.

Custom Email Filters: Filters allow you to organize incoming messages into folders, or can even be set to automatically delete messages from specified senders to keep your inbox clutter-free.

Auto-Complete Address: If you have earlier communicated with or received an email from a specific email address, that address is automatically added to a list of “Emailed Contacts”. When you begin to type the same email address the next time into a New Email Message, their email address will appear below the “To:” field. Clicking on

the address will input the entire email address into the field.

Remote Access: You can enable your Webmail account to be able to send and receive emails from a mobile device with the help of Webmail 2.0 (e.g. iPhone/iPad, Android, Blackberry) while outside a Shaw Internet connection.

Importing/Exporting: Webmail 2.0 also provides you with the ability to import or export contact lists, calendars and webmail account (mail, contacts and calendars).

Manage Devices: Internet subscribers can manage which devices will automatically connect to the Shaw Go WiFi network.

Forward Emails: You can forward emails from your Webmail account to another account.

The features listed above are only accessible through the Shaw Webmail interface online at wm.shaw.ca. If you are using an email client (e.g. Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Apple Mail, Thunder bird, etc.),

the features of your email client, namely the Address Book and Calendar, may differ from that of Webmail 2.0. Any changes you may make in your email client with regard to Contacts or Calendars will not synchronize with the web- based email client in Webmail 2.0.

Setting up Email on an iPad using Shaw

Step 1

Open a web browser such as Chrome or Firefox on your iPhone/iPad and navigate to the Shaw Webmail page. Enter your email address and password to continue.

Step 2

You’ll find “Preferences” link in the upper right corner of the page. Click “Preferences” and then go to the “Mobile Access” tab below.

Step 3

Go to the “Enabled” radio button next to “Mobile Access”. Then type your Shaw email password the “Check Existing Password” field below. Click the “Save” button to save your settings.

Step 4

Click the “Home” button on the front of your iPad and tap the “Settings” icon when it appears on the screen.

Step 5

Navigate to the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” and “Add Account” options.

Step 6

Touch “Other” at the bottom of the screen, and then click on “Add Mail Account.” A new window titled “New

Account” will appear.

Step 7

Enter your name in the “Name” field.

Step 8

Enter your full email address ending in “@shaw.ca” in the “Address” field.

Step 9

Enter your password in the “Password” field.

Step 10

Type a description such as “Shaw Email” in the “Description” field, then touch the “Save” button. The iPad attempts

to detect your email settings automatically and fails.

Step 11

Touch “Next” and “POP.”

Step 12

Scroll down to the “Incoming Mail Server” heading, then type “pop.show.ca” in the “Host Name” field.

Step 13

Type your Shaw email user name in the “User Name” field. This is the portion of the email address before the “@”

symbol.

Step 14

Type your password in the “Password” field.

Step 15

Scroll down to the “Outgoing Mail Server” heading and type “mail.shaw.ca” in the “Host Name” field. Complete the

“User Name” and “Password” fields as you did in the previous steps.

Step 16

Touch the “Save” button and attempt to check your messages. The iPad attempts to connect to Shaw using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol and fails, displaying a prompt asking if you want to use Transport Layer Security instead; touch “Yes.”
